Secret Oktober is a retail store that specializes in a variety of goth, punk, rockabilly, indie, Victorian goth, and other items in between. We sell both new & used merchandise. Clothing & accessories brands include but not limited to: Too Fast, Jawbreaker, Alchemy Gothic & Pallbearer Press. We carry accessories: jewelry, hair dye by Special Effects,Directions, & Sparks, hosiery, hair clips, belts, wristbands, patches, pins, wallets, corsets, buckles, and more.
Are you a Halloween store?
While everyday is Halloween for the goth/industrial ilk, no, we are not specifically a Halloween store. We are open all year round, and we don’t specialize in selling costumes. Anytime of the year you can find unique clothes & accessories for any occasion at our store. We’re always happy to give you ideas for certain styles such as goth, punk, steampunk, 80’s etc.
Do you have Another Location?
No. Secret Oktober has only 1 brick & mortar location & an online store.
Do you own or co-own Elysium?
Strangely, we have gotten this question. The answer is NO! We do not own Elysium nor run Elysium. We support Elyisum as a great place to go for going out. We also sometimes sell tickets for Elysium however any questions regarding booking or hosting events at Elysium needs to be discussed with Elysium ONLY.
Do you carry New Clothing?
Yes! We carry new clothing by a variety of name brands for alternative clothing & accessories.
What do you mean by Vintage?
When we refer to vintage, we mean a used or dated item. Vintage once meant to us, stuff older than 1960. Well, now we’re a lot older, and realize that the 80’s fits into that mold as well. (shudder) Yet, for those who collect old goth clothing brands, it IS vintage to them. However, if we know the exact time period of a vintage item, we will list it as apart of the description. This also includes concert t-shirts.
Do you do consignment?
Are you a local artist/designer that makes gothy, punk, steampunk, or alternative items? And you think it might fit in our store? Secret Oktober does accept items on consignment. While we can’t make any promises, you are welcome to contact us personally if you’re interested in selling your stuff in our store. If we have room, and we think it will work, we’ll be happy to accept them. Note, we DO NOT have room for house wares, large paintings, or dolls, so typically smaller items are preferred. Do you you have a paper catalog?
No, our online webstore is the best indicator of what’s at our store. Not every item in our physical location is on our online store, but most of the interesting items are.
Do you offer Wholesale?
No. We are a Retail store only.
Do you trade or buy items?
Yes, we do trade! Yet, we’re very picky about trade. If you have something that’s in good condition, a name brand (Name brands for goth/punk/alternative items) or something really unique, you can bring it in for trade. We occasionally buy items (although there are times when we simply are not buying anything), yet you get more in trade. This depends on the time of month and what items you’re bringing in to trade/sell. If you’re looking to make a lot of money, you might want to try ebay or craigslist. Sorry, we don’t have a lot of room and need to be picky. Also, please make sure whatever items you’re bringing in to TRADE OR SELL IS WASHED!!!! Do you print your own Band T-Shirts?
No. We do not print band t-shirts nor any music merchandise. We order our concert t-shirts from a variety of licensed wholesale dealers.
Do you do special orders?
We typically don’t do special orders. However, if we’re already making an order for concert t-shirts, certain clothing brands or new accessories, we can possibly get an item on request. We cannot guarantee it, but it doesn’t hurt to ask. Yet, sorry we don’t go out of our way to make special orders. One exception is for Alchemy Gothic Jewelry, and that will be with an upfront down payment.
Do you do Sales/Special Promotions/Coupons?
Yes, we do have sales! Yet, in order to take advantage of our sales or special promotions, it’s best to follow us through our email list, facebook, instagram, twitter or simply view our website.
We sometimes provide coupons through social media or paper coupons. However, WE DO NOT HONOR 3RD PARTY COUPONS!!! There are sites whose only purpose is to provide coupons, they will gather coupons from any company with or WITHOUT permission. These coupons are typically expired or not legitimate. We will never honor anything that doesn’t come from us directly. Nor will we honor expired coupons!! No exceptions!
Can I purchase your items online?
Yes. We have an online store. We ship nationally.
Can I purchase your items over the phone?
NO! We don’t do ordering over the phone. You must visit our online store & purchase there. If you have any issues ordering from our website, please contact us!
What is your return policy?
Instore Purchase: We DO NOT do returns/exchanges. All sales are final! Yet, there are some exceptions. You are more than welcome to contact us about possible exchanges or returns. Yet, we judge on a case by case basis.
For online orders: we DO returns/exchanges. We realize people purchasing online don’t know whether or not an item will fit correctly, so we accept returns/exchanges for items purchased online only. Yet, you must return the item you purchased online within 30 days of purchase. It must be in the same condition you bought it in. Also, it must contain the reason for why you’re returning the item. We will refund you for the cost of the item(s) and taxes(if any) ONLY. We will NOT refund for shipping costs. If you do an exchange instead of a refund, the cost of the item(s) you’re wanting to exchange must be equal for the new items you want, otherwise you will be charged for the difference in price. You will also be charged shipping costs. If something is our mistake, we will not charge you shipping for exchanges.
How long does shipping take & what shipping services do you offer?
Secret Oktober ships all over the United States via usps.com aka United States Postal Service. Shipping times are based on the type of service you choose & your location. Lately, First Class mail has been VERY SLOW. Please be patient if you chose that option. We are hearing of customers not getting their packages until a couple weeks later sometimes. Priority Mail seems to only take a couple days. Services offered by USPS are First Class, Priority, & Express. Once we receive an order, we will ship it out within 2 days. (Most of the time, the order is sent the next morning. We are a working shop, and the person taking care of the orders cannot leave to go to the post office.) All Express orders will be shipped out the next day at the latest, unless you order when the store is closed or during holidays! If you order an item by Express during a time when the post office is closed, or when we’re closed, we will not ship it until we re-open and/or when the post office has re-opened.
Sorry, WE NO LONGER SHIP INTERNATIONAL. This became such a pain in the ass! We used to ship International until items would take too long to arrive when offering 1st Class International. When we changed to just offering Priority International, people complained about the high cost, but this method guaranteed orders would arrive soon. Sorry, we are a small business and cannot afford to compensate on international orders. So there, no more International orders! If you really, really want to order something, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We will quote you a price & you must choose paypal. Yet, it’s at your own risk & we will not REFUND NOR EXCHANGE ANY LOST OR STOLEN INTERNATIONAL ORDERS!
Can I track my order once it’s been shipped?
Secret Oktober uses USPS for shipping in the US ONLY. Upon request & if possible, we can provide you a tracking number via USPS.com. All Priority Mail & Express mail orders can be tracked. Most First Class orders can be tracked. Yet all shipments, unless it’s orders made during holidays/weather events, should arrive no later than a week.
What if I haven’t received my order?
First, don’t freak out! If you haven’t received your order in a reasonable amount of time, please call or email us. Yet, remember that during certain times of the year, shipping can be longer than normal. (HINT: Christmas!!!!). So please be patient during high mailing periods. If you order during the weekend or during holidays, take that into consideration as the post office might be closed.
Also, please make sure you always write the correct shipping address with special instructions if any. If you live in an apartment, please make sure whether or not your apartment office accepts packages for delivery. Sometimes, your post office will leave packages at the apartment office instead of at your door.
If you give INCORRECT shipping information, this will likely send your package back to your local post office, and eventually back to us, so always double check the information you enter.
Yet, please contact us if you haven’t received your package. We will do our best to investigate what happened. USPS can track packages with RFID.
Special Note: If you fail to give us specific instructions on shipment of your order, we are not responsible for what happens after proof of arrival. For example, if you experience theft of packages at your location, a change of address, etc., it is YOUR responsibility to notify us on alternative shipment/signature requirement or instruct your post office about issues with shipping.
What if I have problems with your online store?
Contact us!! We really appreciate feedback on problems, errors, etc. on our website. This helps us improve making your online experience easier. We’re not always aware of the errors, so it helps when people let us know.
What Methods of Payment do you Accept?
Instore: We accept cash, credit/debit. Credit Cards we accept are Visa, Mastercard, American Express, & Discover. Sorry, we DO NOT accept checks!
Online: We accept Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, & Discover. We DO NOT accept paypal e-checks, CODs or Cashier’s Checks. Also, we will not accept payments over the phone. You must purchase via our online store ONLY.
Do You Hold Items?
No! We do not hold items without payment.
